Every child that comes to us starts his or her care with a dental exam. This is very important because we need to assess the health and well-being of your child’s smile, even if they have an obvious problem or active decay. Sometimes, there are problems with teeth, gums, or other oral tissues that cannot be seen by the naked eye. That’s why we use minimal-dose digital and panoramic x-rays to look below the surface to find early cavities and to evaluate the entire mouth. We check gums for health because infections in gum tissue can cause all kinds of health problems and affect much more than your child’s mouth.
General Dental Care
We offer everything your child and teenager needs from hygiene and cleanings for sparkling teeth, to protective restorations and soft tissue laser treatments. We also offer more advanced care such as extractions, root canals on anterior teeth, and emergency dentistry for when the unexpected happens (as it often does with kids!)
Preventive restorations have become a standard in pediatric dental care. Many children have deep grooves and fissures in their molars. These grooves collect plaque and keep it there, causing cavities to form! By bonding tooth-colored composite resin into the grooves, we make the surface of your tooth smoother and much easier to clean. This is an especially important procedure for children who tend not to brush well enough or have history of dental cavities.
If your child needs significant amounts of dentistry or has severe dental anxiety, we offer both in-house sedation dentistry, as well as hospital sedation dentistry. Both methods allow your child to receive high quality dentisitry and a trauma-free experience in a single visit. This is much easier on your child and allows us to complete all of the necessary treatment in one, easy visit. The result of this painless treatment method is a healthy, cavity-free mouth. The avoidance of multiple fearful visits is eliminated and fun, routine dental hygiene visits become the norm for your child.
